Selvatura Park
🌿 Adventure + nature.
One of the most complete adventure parks in Monteverde. Its Canopy crosses the cloud forest through 13 cables and 15 platforms, including a cable of approximately 1 km, the Tarzan Swing and the possibility of adding the famous Superman. In addition, it allows you to combine the adventure with hanging bridges, a butterfly garden, and sloth and reptile habitats.

The Original Canopy Tour
🌳 The Canopy where it all began.
An experience with history: it was created in Monteverde in 1994. Its route is done from tree to tree and combines 10 zip lines, Tarzan Swing, rappelling and the ascent through the inside of an enormous fig tree.

🌿 Walking among the treetops.
A much calmer experience than the Canopy, but equally special. The bridges allow you to walk through the cloud forest from the heights and observe closely the vegetation, the trees and, with luck, some of the wildlife that inhabits the canopy.
✨ What makes it distinctive: It is an excellent way to experience the forest from above without needing to fly down cables.

When you come to Monteverde, it's easy to fall in love with the mist, the trees, the hummingbirds, and all the sounds that fill the forest. This is one of the reserves that forms part of the story of how Monteverde became known for its conservation. It was created in 1972 thanks to the efforts of scientists and community members who understood that this forest was something essential to protect. At first, most visitors were scientists and people interested in bird watching. Over the years, more and more travelers began to discover this place. Long before Monteverde became a tourist destination, there were already people working to ensure that this forest continued to exist. One of the classic visits of Monteverde for those who want to walk through trails surrounded by lush vegetation, trees covered in moss, bromeliads and an enormous diversity of life.

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve
🌫️ Nature in a calmer setting.
This reserve has something very special about it: it is a community-born project managed by the Administrative Board of the Santa Elena Technical High School, operating under a land-use permit on state-owned property. The reserve opened in 1992, and since then, tourism has helped support both forest conservation and local education. So, when you visit the Santa Elena Reserve, you aren't just enjoying a beautiful forest; you are also supporting a community project. It is an excellent option for walking through the cloud forest and enjoying trails surrounded by lush vegetation and mist. A nice fact: A portion of the reserve's revenue goes toward supporting local education.

Curi-Cancha
🐦 Nature and bird watching.
The story of Curi-Cancha reminds us that nature knows how to reclaim its space. When the Lowther family acquired the property in 1970, part of it was forest, while another section had been used as pasture. Over the years, they allowed many of those areas to recover naturally. And so, little by little, the forest grew back. It is a reserve that holds special appeal for those who enjoy forest walks and birdwatching; its trails offer the chance to explore diverse environments and seek out local species.
And the name? Curi-Cancha means “Golden Enclosure”, a name that suits it quite nicely.

Children's Eternal Rainforest
🌱 Conservation that was born from a dream.
This is, perhaps, one of the most special stories. In 1987 schoolchildren in Sweden began wondering what they could do to help protect tropical rain forests, they decided that they would raise funds to purchase land in Costa Rica. What started as a small initiative grew tremendously, eventually involving people from around the world. Thanks to that effort, a vast expanse of forest was successfully protected and continues to grow. An enormous protected area of more than 56,000 acres dedicated to the conservation of the forest and biodiversity where less than 1% is open to tourism. It is an option for guests interested in getting to know a Monteverde more focused on conservation and nature

BIRD WATCHING
Thanks to its privileged location, Monteverde is one of Costa Rica's premier year-round birdwatching destinations. The period between April and June is particularly notable for the presence of the Resplendent Quetzal and the migration of the Three-wattled Bellbird. Furthermore, nearly 600 bird species have been recorded here—out of the 935 identified in Costa Rica. Come learn about and enjoy Monteverde's incredible birdlife. 🐦 Hummingbird Gallery
You can observe various species of hummingbirds for free in Monteverde at the Hummingbird Gallery, located next to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. The Hummingbird Gallery is a cozy little garden featuring feeders and native plants that attract dozens of hummingbirds. Contrary to what some people believe, you do not need to pay the Monteverde Reserve entrance fee to visit the hummingbird gallery. The site is owned by the proprietors of a charming little café called Café Colibrí; there is no admission fee, though they do offer drinks and pastries.

🌄 San Luis Viewpoint
Overlooking the San Luis Valley, this cozy little viewpoint features a bench where you can escape the world and get away from the crowds. The access road is quite steep, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. The spot is small and only accommodates one or two couples, so visiting at sunrise—between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM—is highly recommended.

🌅 Cerro Plano Viewpoint
A simple, peaceful spot to enjoy views of the mountains and the Gulf of Nicoya. It is an excellent place to stop, snap some photos, and enjoy the sunset for free.

A local hangout spot—especially popular at sunset—offering amazing views of the lowlands and the Gulf of Nicoya. If you have some free time or are looking for a great place to watch the sunset, this spot is well worth a visit.
